Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) are educated and trained to evaluate individual health needs, and provide active and passive techniques for patient care. RMTs provide an accurate assessment, differential diagnosis of specific soft tissue and musculoskeletal conditions. RMTS treat the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems to improve patient health.

An RMT in BC must complete extensive training at an educational program recognized by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC. Core curriculum of the educational program includes comprehensive studies in health sciences such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology and neuro-anatomy. Other areas of study include clinical sciences such as manual skills, orthopedics, remedial exercise, hydrotherapy and patient education. The management of chronic diseases, injuries and the effects of long-term stress are also studied.

Philosophy

The human mind and body captivate me. We are so adaptable, with the right tools and mindset we can work with any physical or mental challenges that may arise. As a therapist, I spend most of my time helping people get to know their body in a deeper sense. I employ both a hands-on and hands-off approach. My belief is that manual therapy is an appreciable tool used for temporary results, and remedial exercise is used as a way to make those results last. In treatment, I use the two in combination to help empower my clients and guide them back to their normal lives pain-free. My approach revolves around client-centered care. When you walk into treatment, my first question is usually “what’s the plan for today?” because I want to ensure that we are meeting your needs at that moment. Ultimately, my goal is to help you feel confident in your ability to navigate your health.
